The Lamorinda Democratic Club’s monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, March 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m., with the club’s business session to begin at 7:30 p.m, and speaker at 8:00. The organizations monthly meetings are held at the Orinda Community Church in Orinda.

Former Sacramento Bee Editorial Page Editor Peter Schrag will be the Lamorinda Democratic Club’s speaker who will discuss California: Who made the mess? Who’ll clean it up?

In a January column in the California Progress Report, Schrag offered a 10-step solution for fixing California’s fiscal crisis while protecting our state’s education system, social safety net, and the future. As Schrag wrote about California’s budget crisis and repeated rounds of budget cuts, “…it doesn’t have to be this way – it’s not written in stone, and never was. We – the legislature, a generation of governors, the voters – have made the choices that got us here, and it wouldn’t be all that hard to work our way out of it, were we only willing.”
