Rotary Gleaning Project reaches new milestone

The Rotary Club of Concord-Diablo‘s famed Picker Squadron reached a milestone- 6 months-6,013 pounds of fruit (3 tons) collected for the food pantry’s of the Concord area. The last week in June has been very busy with plums and apricots coming in and 5 houses being done in the last 4 days. “Gleaning sustains the community on both ends the receivers and givers,” explained Ed Birsan, the Community Service Director of the club, which meets Wednesdays at 12:15PM at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 45 John Glenn and Concord Avenue in Concord.
