Ed Nunn and Jeremy Christiansen will host this event in honor of local veterans. Erik’s father, Ed, is a retired 1st Sergeant with the Army National Guard who served in Iraq and Kuwait during the first Gulf War in 1991. Jeremy, who heads the California chapter of the Vets for Freedom organization, served in the Army from 1997-2005 on active duty and reserves, serving in Iraq in 2003-2004. Both men are members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Republican Antioch Councilman, Arnie Simonsen, danced lightly around the issue last week when he told CC Times political editor, Lisa Vorderbrueggen, “We (Republicans) don’t eat our young.” Simonsen says he opposes handing out party endorsements in partisan or nonpartisan contests where the field contains two or more Republicans. “I don’t see us endorsing anyone under those circumstances, I really don’t,” Simonsen said.
Yet, Simonsen, a member of the Contra Costa Republican Party Central Committee (CCRP), has already promised to support fellow Antioch Councilman Don Freitas, a Democrat, instead of supporting Republican Erik Nunn for the District V Supervisor seat currently held by embattled Federal Glover.
